Andie Melendez is the Clinical Practice Development Coordinator at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. As a RN for 38 years, she has explored a variety of specialties including critical care nursing, cardiac surgery, acute critical care dialysis, nursing management and leadership, and president and principal of Carlan Associates, LLC, a nursing practice consulting business.
After exploring a variety of practice specialties, she realized that her passion was in developing and promoting the Medical Surgical nurse to recognize and advance bedside practice in the largest nursing specialty population. This interest led Andie to join AMSN, where she has been a member and chair of the Clinical Practice Committee, the AMSN Associate Representative to the Alliance to Advance Patient Nutrition supporting Dr. Beth Quatrara, and most recently she joined the AMSN Board of Directors as the National Secretary.
