Margo McCaffery MS, RN-BC, FAAN

Margo McCaffery is an internationally recognized specialist in the nursing care of patients with pain. Since 1970 she has been self-employed as a consultant and workshop leader, conducting programs on pain management throughout the United States, Canada, and other countries. She is the author of numerous articles on pain and several books, including Pain: Clinical Manual, ed 2, Mosby, 1999. Currently she is revising this book. She is a founding member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and served a fifteen year appointment to the World Health Organization's Expert Committee on Cancer Pain Relief. She has been a consultant in the development of guidelines for pain management, including those prepared by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Pain Society, and the World Health Organization.
