Ms. Christine Deschamps is licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate studies at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She graduated summa cum laude from Duquesne University with a Master’s of Science in Leadership and Business Ethics and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She has practiced as a frontline nurse in both med-surg and critical care for over 26 years. Currently she serves as the project manager and lead clinical improvement specialist for the Mosites Aspiration Prevention Initiative led by the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The initiative's aim is to prevent hospital associated aspiration by increasing the knowledge base of all healthcare personnel ; improving communication of vital components of aspiration prevention between disciplines throughout the continuum of care; and implementing standardized processes to prevent aspiration in the acute care setting and beyond the hospital doors.
