Esther Bernhofer PhD, RN-BC

Dr. Esther Bernhofer is the Pain Education Specialist in Nursing Quality at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. She is board certified in Pain Management Nursing and is active in many national pain organizations. She is immediate past chair of the Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council where this study originated. Esther has published articles related to chronic pain in older persons and ethical considerations for nursing in bedside pain care. Esther initiated and coordinates a hospital-wide Pain Mentor Nurse program at the main campus of the Cleveland Clinic. Her goals include establishing mandatory quality pain care education for all health care providers and implementing evidence-based pain care practice at her institution.
