While it is known that professional and therapeutic communication is essential, it is unknown what specific communications novice nurses struggle with, both in education and practice. Understanding ineffective communication behaviors is essential to developing nursing curriculum which can target such behaviors and enhance clinical competency for professional nursing practice. This session will share the findings of a study to explore undergraduate nursing students' communication struggles during simulation to identify patterns of ineffective communication for novices.
