OD11 - Evidence-Based Practice, Dispelling the Myths in Nursing Practice

This presentation provides a definition of evidence-based practice as well as the steps that a nurse should take in the process according to Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt. The results of several EBP projects are used to dispel several nursing myths/traditional nursing practices in the areas of wound care, IV therapy, positioning, care of urinary catheters, use of oxygen, and hygienic care.
