Non-invasive mask ventilation with CPAP, BiPAP, and NPPV machines is becoming increasingly common in the hospital and home. Med-surg nurses and case managers need to be knowledgeable about the options available in non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV), how NPPV benefits the patient, and the essential elements of patient education regarding NPPV.
