The focus of this presentation is the treatment of elderly patients who have an altered mental status. This session also provides an overview of anatomic and physiologic changes in elderly patients. Information is provided about the biochemical alterations associated with such mood disorders as anxiety and depression. Current treatment approaches for elderly patients are discussed, along with rationales for treatment.
