Ethical Issues at End-of-Life: Practical Suggestions for Resolution

Ethical issues at the end of life are among the most stressful situations for bedside nurses. This session identifies typical end-of-life ethical issues in medical-surgical nursing practice, and treatment failures. Through the speaker’s own experience as an ethics committee consultant and ethics nursing professor, as well as her development of the CODE process, exploration for possible resolutions at the bedside, needed organizational supports, and external options for difficult-to-resolve situations are shared.
