Older adults often present to the hospital with multiple complex co-morbidities, so medical-surgical nurses have a duty to be knowledgeable in caring for this population. This session discusses how certain conditions are common and preventative and may signal a need for a thorough assessment. The importance of nurses being able to differentiate normal aging from pathological aging is also explored.

This session describes a pilot study on the feasibility of routine dyspnea assessment of all inpatients upon admission.
