Module 1 of this program, Introduction to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Health Care Workforce is available for free to any individual.

In this module, you will be challenged to:

  • Investigate opportunities for connection and community building in health care workplaces.
  • Increase your awareness of structural and unconscious bias.
  • Support and consciously advance equity and inclusion in your workplace.
  • Build a culture of appreciation and inclusion
  • Distinguish among diversity, equity, and inclusion, and
  • Exhibit open-mindedness to provide healing care in diverse populations that are consistent with health care best practices.

Module 1 will also introduce:

  • Demographic shifts and changes in health care.
  • Identities and uniqueness.
  • Race, age, disabilities, religion and culture, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
  • Proper terminology.
  • Bias and Microaggressions.
  • Ways to ensure everyone is included, and
  • Ways to begin making a difference.

80% of participants who complete the evaluation will self-report that as a result of this activity, their knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion terminology has increased.

Criteria for successful completion:

  • Complete the module in its entirety
  • Complete the evaluation
