The case of RaDonda Vaught's trial and the events surrounding it have been a source of worry for many nurses. A broad range of concerns personal, professional and legal have been raised regarding the criminal conviction of a nurse for a medication administration error, spurring worries that the Just Culture traditionally seen throughout the field of nursing may be at risk.

LEARNING OUTCOME: After completing this learning activity, the participant will be able to list specific ways to protect themselves through good nursing practice, what steps to take if they make a mistake, and the role that risk management can play in assisting them.
