308A: Down to the Last Drop: Preventing Medication Errors in Intravenous Antibiotic Infusions - Preventing medication errors is crucial for patient safety and effective care. This session will highlight how a team of Registered Nurses eliminated patient harm in seven acute care units by ensuring the correct dose of intravenous antibiotics was administered. Through targeted education and audits, the team successfully addressed knowledge gaps among RNs, resulting in improved medication administration practices and enhanced patient outcomes.
308B: On the Edge: Are You Practicing Outside Your Scope? - Nursing practice is continually evolving and staying within the defined scope of practice is essential to ensure patient safety and professional integrity. This session will review an in-depth assessment of event reports at an academic medical center that revealed gaps in nursing understanding of RN scope related boundaries. This assessment led to the development of resources including a scenario-based learning module and quarterly microlearning offerings in an effort to promote critical thinking and reinforce safe, ethical nursing practice on an ongoing basis.
