Description
Healthcare providers must have the skills to realize, respect, and appreciate the values, attitudes, beliefs, and morals of others with differing religious and cultural backgrounds. Culture is the foundation of a person’s identity. Religion and spirituality often integrate into the cultural life of a community. For healthcare workers, the connection between significance, core beliefs, cultural background, and purpose to work is vital. For patients, culture, religion, and spirituality will significantly impact how they wish to be cared for, how they process their situation, and their decision-making. In this module, learners will receive an overview of many world religions and cultures and ways to accommodate diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural patients and colleagues. This will allow healthcare professionals to engage, collaborate, and flourish with colleagues, and patients.
