Gender identity is the personal sense of one’s gender. The transgender and gender non-conforming community is a growing population that healthcare professionals may have interactions. In this module, learners will gain an understanding of terminology, challenges facing those who are transgender and gender non-conforming, proper communication with and about transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, as well as how to help resolve conflicts and combat discrimination against this group in the healthcare workplace.
