Motivational Interviewing: Overview and Core Skills for Nursing Practice

Are you working with patients who struggle to make health behavior changes? This webinar provides an overview of Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a tool to assist nurses in supporting patients to make changes for improving their health and well-being. Nurses from novice to expert can execute these skills and bring the spirit of MI into their daily practice by demonstrating partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation.
Target Audience: Nurses working with patients where health behavior changes will be beneficial, such as weight loss, smoking cessation, exercise, etc., will find this presentation beneficial. Motivational Interviewing is a skill set and takes practice, and can be learned for nurses at with any level of experience.Outcomes:
- 80% of participants who complete the evaluation will identify one way that motivational interviewing can be applied to their nursing practice.
- 80% of participants who complete the evaluation will self-report increased confidence to apply motivational interviewing as a tool to support patients in making health behavior changes.
