Description
The two fundamental goals in infusion therapy are preservation of vascular health while safely and effectively delivering needed treatment. Achieving these goals is challenging when combined with the clinical imperative to reduce central line utilization and associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). This presentation will review guidelines for peripheral venous access device (VAD) selection, potential complications with peripheral administration, and research priorities to promote optimal outcomes in peripheral VAD insertion, maintenance, and removal.
