Description

In January 2016, a fall prevention program, using the acronym SAFE, was created to decrease the number of injuries to patients and staff. After implementation, a medical-surgical unit went 170 days without a fall and zero staff injuries.

Learning Outcome:
After completing this continuing nursing education activity, the learner will be able to discuss strategies to reduce patient and staff injury as a result of assisted falls.

Fall is prevented start from patient admission to the area. Application of all fall interventions to prevent fall.

I will share this information with my colleagues. Many at times we answer patients' lights that are not ours, having this tool and even going as far as writing on the white board, 1 or 2 assists will help in preventing assisted falls.

Missed reading this article. Good ideas. Being only 5 foot I feel the need for a second helper frequently. Now I know why.
