Severe acute pancreatitis adversely affects both patients and the health care system. Effectively managing the nutritional needs of patients with pancreatitis is one commonly encountered struggle. Challenges include: simultaneously managing glucose; alleviating pain, nausea, and vomiting; treating diarrhea; and maintaining fluid and electrolyte status. This review examines the evidence guiding the enteral nutrition care of this patient population.
