The population of the United States is becoming increasingly more diverse racially and ethnically. It is predicated that by 2015, diverse populations will constitute over 30% of the population. Cultural competency is about developing the knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively care for patients of diverse cultures. Culturally competent nursing care requires the ability to provide respective and effective patient care.
