Traci Ashcraft has been a nurse for 29 years. She currently works at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia University Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia, which is a Level I Adult Trauma Center and West Virginia's only Magnet facility. Traci has worked with acute/progressive care, general surgery/trauma patients for her entire career. She has been active in unit-based education since 1991 and has developed numerous Standards of Practice and patient care guidelines, as well as hospital-wide policies regarding this patient population. She has served as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and as a nurse mentor. Traci developed the nurse transition program and the role of Transitional Coordinator and the numerous support programs associated with the role. She is currently a Clinical Preceptor, a role she has held since the inception of the role in 2003. She has published multiple articles in nursing journals and has participated in numerous poster presentations for AMSN. Traci is a past President and Secretary for the West Virginia Chapter of AMSN and currently holds the office of President Elect.
