Pamela Garrett is a clinical nurse specialist and the pulmonary program coordinator at Northside Hospital - Gwinnett. Pam has been a nurse for almost 40 years, and a clinical nurse specialist for over 30 years! She has practiced extensively in critical care and med-surg settings, as well as teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. As the Pulmonary Program Coordinator, Pam oversees the inpatient care of patients with COPD and pneumonia, ensuring care is evidence-based and meets best practice standards. She is responsible for coordinating the care of patients with chronic lung disease in a 500+ bed 2-hospital system and working with a transitions of care coordinator to bridge the gap between hospital and home. Pam is passionate about helping the COPD patients manage their disease well in their home environment. She is a champion for non-invasive positive pressure ventilation for patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure.
