Janet Burton

Janet Burton has been a medical-surgical nurse for 39 years and a medical-surgical nurse educator for 16 years. Janet is employed by the Columbus Regional Hosptial where she was the Clinical Nurse Specialist lead for the development and implementation of the Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome protocol. Primary outcomes of the protocol include: impoved nurse satisfaction and confidence in providing care for this patient population and physician satisfaction with the nursing management of these patients. She is an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana-Columbus and teaches Complex Medical-Surgical Nursing. Janet has been involved with AMSN for the past 10 years as a local officer, conference presenter, item writer for the AMSN MedSurg Certification Exam and is currently chair of the Position Statement Task Force.
