Dr. Elena Valcarlos graduated from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy and then completed a pharmacy practice residency at Oregon Health and Science University. She worked as a critical care pharmacist for a few years before transitioning into her current role as Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. As the clinical coordinator, Elena serves as the subject matter expert for medication related build in the electronic health record. Dr. Valcarlos precepts pharmacy students and residents and just this year precepted a residency project that involved implementing a guideline for managing opioid withdrawal in the hospital setting.
