Barbara J. Levin BSN, RN, CMSRN, ONC, LNCC

Barbara Levin is the Clinical Scholar of the orthopaedic trauma unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she has worked for 34 years in a variety of roles. The Massachusetts Governor appointed Barbara to the Massachusetts Board of Nursing and in 2017 she was named Chair of this prestigious board and continues in her role where she reviews and opines on all complaints and licensure issues. Barbara served on the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) Executive Board as Director from 2012 to 2015. In addition, she has published and lectured extensively about patient safety, orthopaedics, and documentation practices. Barbara co-authored the chapter “Complications Associated with Orthopaedic Surgeries” in An Introduction to Orthopaedic Nursing, 5th edition published by NAON in 2018. Barbara served as President of the AALNC and also served on its board for five years. She is a Legal Nurse Consultant and testifies as an expert witness nationally on a variety of topics including cervical spine emergencies.
