Antoinette Falker is the clinical nurse specialist for Trauma, General Surgery, and Minimally Invasive Surgical Services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri. She has served in a variety of staff nurse positions during her tenure at Barnes-Jewish Hospital including: Burn ICU, GYN Oncology, Trauma, and the Pain Management Center. Ann specializes in care of the Bariatric patient. She is also an active participant in a number of hospital-based committees and has developed system-wide educational programs for Bariatric Sensitivity, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Gastric Bypass, and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. She has presented nationally on the topic of bariatrics at the National Association of Bariatric Nurses, National Databases of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses National Teaching Institute (NTI). She is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). In her role as inpatient bariatric coordinator, she develops, implements, and teaches on the care and management of the obese patient as well as the care and management of the weight loss surgery patient.
