Darlene Lovasik is the transplant/surgery program nurse specialist for the inpatient abdominal transplant and surgery units at UPMC Presbyterian, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Darlene has been a nurse for over 40 years and CCRN-certified for 30 years. She has given oral and poster presentations on transplant and surgical topics in the Pittsburgh area, regionally at the SEPA/AACN Trends Conference in Philadelphia, and nationally at the AMSN Conventions, International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS) Annual Symposium, and the National Teaching Institute (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses annual meeting). She has published 28 journal articles/book chapters on neurological, trauma, and transplant topics. She received her BSN degree from Penn State University and her MN degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
