Pulmonary Clinical Nurse Specialist, Northside Hospital Gwinnet

Pam Garrett has been a professional nurse for 42 years and has remained active in the acute care environment throughout her career. She is board-certified as an adult health clinical nurse specialist, as well as certified in critical care and medical-surgical nursing. In 2021, she became certified as a tobacco treatment specialist. In addition to bedside nursing, she has been a critical care CNS, a nursing professor at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA, and a CNS for Medical Services and Progressive Care; she currently serves as the pulmonary CNS for 2 hospitals in a 5-hospital system. In 2019, she received a grant from the CHEST Foundation and used the funds to sponsor a community event that provided free spirometry testing and consultations with a pulmonologist and numerous educational opportunities for individuals with chronic respiratory diseases. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the spring 2020, she was asked to step into the role of COVID oversight coordinator for acute and intermediate care.
