Roque Anthony Velasco is an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner at a federally qualified health center in Palm Springs, California. In addition to being a board-certified nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, and credentialed HIV specialist, he also has received certification in high-resolution anoscopy and board certification in medical-surgical nursing and AIDS nursing. He serves as a sub-investigator for HPV- and anal dysplasia-focused clinical studies with the National Institutes of Health/AIDS Malignancy Consortium, clinical trial on novel long-acting injectable medication for the treatment of HIV-1 infection, and mixed-method needs assessment studies on barriers to care among transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) people. He currently serves as Director-at-Large of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC), Nurse Practitioner Committee member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine, President of the ANAC Greater Palm Springs Chapter, Advisory Board Member of the Center for Health Equity, and Chair of DAP Health's Gender Wellness Program.
