This session focuses on equipping the medical-surgical nurse with tools to interpret basic rhythms seen on medical-surgical units and reviews essential pathophysiology of the cardiac system and cardiac medications.

Objectives:
• Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the cardiac system as it related to cardiac dysrhythmias originating within the atria. 
• Describe the basic cardiac electrophysiology of the ECG complex. 
• Discuss potential complications for patients experiencing sinus and atrial dysrhythmias.
• Describe appropriate treatment strategies for patients with sinus and atrial dysrhythmias.
